Wireline logs vs drilling events: Which one to believe in implying subsurface pressure?
نویسندگان
چکیده
As generally known, subsurface pressure can be implied using both wireline logs and drilling events. However, there may a case where events do not indicate the same pressure. Data from four vertical wells located in South Sumatra Basin, Indonesia, were analyzed as study. Two wells, Wells A D, encountered high overpressured zones, confirmed by data. The two others, B C, only low inferred relatively mudweight used during drilling. of C show reversal D. There are hypotheses to explain condition C. First, is due shallow carbonate cementation. Second, drilled an unintentional underbalanced condition. method includes XRD, SEM, titration analysis. results that first hypothesis false, while second true. It some missing information related final well report

متن کاملUnderlay vs . Interweave : Which one is better ?
Cognitive Networks have been proposed to opportunistically discover and exploit licensed spectrum bands, in which the secondary users’ (SU) activity is subordinated to primary users (PU). Depending on the nature of the interaction between the SU and PU, there are two frequently encountered types of spectrum access: underlay and interweave. While a lot of research effort has been devoted to each...

متن کاملDrilling Automation for Subsurface Planetary Exploration
Future in-situ lunar/martian resource utilization and characterization, as well as the scientific search for life on Mars, will require access to the subsurface and hence drilling. Drilling on Earth is hard – an art form more than an engineering discipline. The limited mass, energy and manpower in planetary drilling situations makes application of terrestrial drilling techniques problematic. Th...
متن کاملDrilling systems for extraterrestrial subsurface exploration.
Drilling consists of 2 processes: breaking the formation with a bit and removing the drilled cuttings. In rotary drilling, rotational speed and weight on bit are used to control drilling, and the optimization of these parameters can markedly improve drilling performance. Although fluids are used for cuttings removal in terrestrial drilling, most planetary drilling systems conduct dry drilling w...
